As someone who has designed and administered SharePoint sites day in day out since MOSS(2007) I must say that the “Change the look” setting in SharePoint Online is a great leap forward.
By clicking the gear icon in the top right and going to change the look the user is presented with options to edit the theme, header, navigation and footer on a granular level with a few clicks.
